Does Your Business Pass the Google Test??

If I walked up to you this AM and asked do you use the Internet, I suspect that your answer would be ‘yes’.

If I then asked which search engine you use most often, statistics show that at least 50% or more of you would say Google.

So it would seem then that a small business owner would want to “pass the Google Test”, right?

As a report in All Business.com today revealed, being able to pass the Google Test will be the difference between success and failure for your small business.

Some of the key questions to ask yourself are:

If someone were to Google you or your business:

  • Would you come up in the search rankings, and if so, how high? Which page of search results?
  • What kind of information would someone find?
    • Is it positive or negative?
    • Is it informational?
    • Does it easily point them to your business website and online networks?
  • Does the information found identify you as a person of value that someone would want to meet or work with?
My wish for you this Christmas is that you take a few minutes, ask yourself the questions above and really think through how you can improve your answers in 2012, now only days away.
